Disclaimer. The Shinkansen Ledger is unofficial hobby writing. It is not a Japan Railways site and not a ticket agency. I do not sell tickets, take fares, or book seats for readers. Service names appear only so you can recognize them. They do not imply a partnership or endorsement. Confirm fares, seats, and refunds with the carrier before you pay. The site is funded by donations.

Unofficial field notes The Shinkansen Ledger

Who keeps this ledger

Name, street address, and phone are public so you can see who writes the notes.

The pages come from rides I have taken. This is not a ticket counter.

The person

I am Natasha Rimsky. I write The Shinkansen Ledger as a hobby from a desk at 257-281 Water Street, New York, NY 10038-1734, United States. I have ridden Tokyo–Hakata, Sendai–Hiroshima, and the Hokuriku cut at Tsuruga more than once. I keep the parts that pamphlets skip: which desk a resident uses, where a foreign card dies on 3-D Secure, and how to tell an early-bird seat from a regular reserved seat.

What this site does

I publish free unofficial notes. I am not Japan Railways and not an agent. I do not sell tickets. The contact form is not a checkout and not a lead form for a paid guide. Hosting is paid with donations, which I explain on the Donate page. If a paragraph is wrong, write me. I would rather correct the ledger than pretend it is a shop.

Address and phone

Hours I try to keep: weekdays 10:00–17:00 Eastern Time. If I miss the phone, leave a note by email.
